The single most influential business feature that I look for when deciding what company I should shop with is in-store pickup. Yesterday, I discussed how Amazon, and leveraging Amazon Prime, can make your shopping so convenient you might never leave your house again. The only downside to shopping with Amazon, aside from potentially finding a better deal, is you can’t receive your items on the same day as you purchase them. Even if you upgraded your shipping, from the free two-day shipping with Amazon Prime, and got next day shipping, that still means you will have to wait until the end of the following day to receive your items. That’s not convenient or conducive if you just ran out of a bottle of shampoo or conditioner. Yet, it’s also not convenient to park, maneuver through the warehouse and then sit in the checkout lines in Costco. You want to be able to pick something up on your drive home from work, or on the weekend, when it’s convenient for you. In 1995, a gentlemen by the name of Jeff Bezos launched a company out of his garage in Bellevue, Washington and in less than five years completely changed the way we viewed shopping. The company history is quite impressive, but it’s becoming more and more common to stay home and shop from the convenience of your apartment or house and know whether you’re a Mom, Student or Standard Customer you know you can get free two-day shipping on anything you buy. Not to mention that Amazon is able to leverage their incredible vendor relationships to save you up to 90% off what you pay in the store. The sheer number of brands, categories and products is overwhelming at times, because it’s literally the world’s largest department store. Today’s post will go over some of the tricks and techniques I use to leverage Amazon to help you look smart, eat smart and especially spend smart.

Dollar Shave Club has literally changed the way we shop for razors, from a drive to drug store to receiving our razors on a monthly subscription basis. In their words, not mine, their blades are F***ing great and they’re not afraid to have a discussion about number two. I will admit, their razors are cheap, high quality and extremely convenient, but I’m strongly opposed to monthly subscriptions; I want to be in control! With a little bit of research I was able to discover that the company Dorco is actually the razor manufacturer that provides the razors that Dollar Shave Club sells. Which means, Buying from the Supplier = Deeper Discounts! In this post, I’m going to break down how you can get the same razors as Dollar Shave club, but with more control over your shipments and a cheaper price so you can look good AND spend smart.
Since 2004, I was a loyal and faithful T-Mobile customer. I started out on the pre-paid plan, simply to have a cell phone in case someone wanted to contact me and didn’t want to call and get my mother. Eventually I transitioned to a family plan and was a loyal Blackberry customer, but I realized, even though my bill was significantly cheaper than my friends, that even $50 per month was too much money for a cell phone plan. In January of 2014, I started doing some research to figure out if there was a company outside of the large-carrier companies like AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon. My research eventually led me to the company Republic Wireless and over the course of the past year, I’ve completely changed the way I look at paying for and using a cell phone.
